Martin Ellis, Managing Director
Martin is a lucky man. “I work with an incredible team of events professionals who don’t understand the concept of problems; they make everything run smoothly life is so much easier because of them”. He is our go-to person for unusual ideas, and our go-away person when we hear them. His loves are rugby, food, travel and languages, and he can be found in stadiums around the world, muttering in a variety of tongues whilst watching the beautiful game. In 2016 he completed a 300 mile charity walk for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, which you can read about here. Martin is also a director of the Alliance of Independent Events Agencies, has appeared as a panellist at numerous industry debates, and was honoured to speak at The Meetings Show in 2017.
Anna Johnsson, Director of Operations
Anna makes things happen, usually on purpose. No challenge is too great, no detail is too small – Anna makes sure that every event runs like clockwork, and in nearly 20 years in the events industry she has managed a lot of events. Being fluent in Swedish, she handles our Scandinavian clients and suppliers; she is often teased that they simply discuss IKEA and Abba, but the feedback from clients tells us that she’s covered every other detail of their enquiries. Anna is also a wonderful cook and regularly treats the office to whatever Swedish delicacy she has created the night before. Anna’s interests include dancing, fitness and walking in incredibly high heels, all of which she excels at to the amazement of the whole team.
Damian Rawcliffe, Training
We have partnered with Damian through his own business – Apollus Medical – to help deliver many of the training courses that we offer. These include Mental Health First Aid and Immediate Life Support. We are working with Damian to constantly add further courses to our expanding portfolio.
Damian has a “can do” approach that mirrors our own, and his training delivery is engaging and informative. He has extensive knowledge of his subject matter and an ability to convey that knowledge in a way that is both memorable and enjoyable. He also boasts a list of credentials that make us all jealous!
When he’s not training others, Damian spends time working with the ambulance service. Prior to this he spent nearly two decades working in close protection, including seven years in the armed forces. This has apparently primed him perfectly for working with Team Umbrella!
Eniko Janko, Business Development – Central Europe
Eniko works on our business into and out of Eastern Europe. She has excellent organisational skills and a great knowledge of both Hungary and Romania; she also speaks both Hungarian and Romanian fluently, as well as Italian and French; her English is perfect too! Eniko has extensive experience in the events industry, having worked in events for many years in Hungary. She has now returned to the events industry after a short career break, and has added a new dimension to our team. Her interests include dancing, running and Tae Kwon Do, giving her the level of fitness necessary to work on some of our events!
